In most living organisms, genetic information is stored in the molecule deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA. DNA is made and resides in the nucleus of living cells. DNA gets its name from the sugar molecule contained in its backbone(deoxyribose); however, it gets its significance from its unique structure. Four different nucleotide bases occur in DNA: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T).

RNA is Ribonucleic Acid, a single-stranded nucleic acid containing the sugar ribose. In most organisms, a molecule responsible for transfer of the genetic information encoded in DNA to the manufacture of proteins. In some organisms such as viruses RNA is the primary carrier of genetic informaion.

Protein Synthesis is the process in which DNA encodes for the production of amino acids and proteins and is broken down into transcription and translation.
